"First, if the government still subsidizes," said Executive Director Indonesian Resources Studies (IRESS), Marwan Coal, when contacted VIVA.co.id, Thursday, April 2, 2015.
Marwan said that Malaysia still subsidizes its fuel prices, it is not surprising that the price is more than the price of fuel in Indonesia.

In addition, he continued, the price of fuel sales in Indonesia is the base price plus other costs, such as the cost of processing in refineries, transportation costs, and the cost of storage.
According to Marwan, Value Added Tax (VAT) and (Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB) also added in fuel prices.
"Coupled with the profit margin business entities, such as Pertamina by 5-10 per cent and gas stations," he explained.
In line with Marwan, Marketing Director of Pertamina, Ahmad Bambang, also criticized behind Faisal view on fuel prices in Indonesia.
"Tim RTKM (Governance Reform Migas) saw only Malaysia. Why not Brunei gentlemen?" Ahmad said, when contacted VIVA.co.id.
He considered that these two countries, namely Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam sell cheaper fuel, because the country is considered to be able to subsidize fuel prices.
"Why does not compare to Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar are relatively less developed than Indonesia," he added.
He also stressed, when compared with pertamax Indonesia is still cheaper, than Vietnam and the Philippines.
